Instrument Rental Program
At the beginning of the school year, we rent out hundreds of musical instruments to local students in elementary, middle and high school. Many of the instruments available for rent are brand new! Even if your rented instrument is not brand new, it has been thoroughly cleaned and tested with all necessary repairs made.
Did you know that if your child's school provides an instrument, chances are that instrument is being shared by two or more students at any given time? Since we have our own repair shop on the premises, you would be surprised, if not slightly disgusted, how dirty these instruments from the schools are. They are sent to us for their annual cleaning and we find all sorts of mineral deposits in them from player's saliva.
So, in that case, of course, we advocate that your child rent his or her own musical instrument. This also encourages the child to practice more and expand their musicianship when they can take the instrument home each day.
Plus, at Sawday and Holmes, you can apply your rental payment towards the purchase of a new instrument. Rental payments up to six months can be applied to your purchase.

What if my child changes his/her mind on the instrument they want to play while renting?
Depending on the monthly fee, an easy switch could be made with instruments.
Will I receive a bill each month for my payment?
You don't have to be bothered with a monthly bill. Payment is automatically deducted from a credit card or checking account.
How do I sign up with your rental program?
At any time during the year, you may fill out a contract and rent an instrument from us. A California Drivers License and a major credit card(s) are required to rent an instrument. Please visit our store or contact us for further details. Your school may also list our rental information in a handout to your child at the beginning of the school year.
Does the monthly insurance of $4.00 cover loss or theft of the instrument I am renting?
No, the monthly insurance only covers damage / maintenance on the instrument. When a repair is made on a rental instrument with maintenance insurance, the fee will not exceed $10.00.
